We have described in the following pages two weeks off journey through Albania, with result of 10 offroad routes with approx. 620 km gravel length. We have also driven some 1200 km tarred road. Each route is described in detail, including one or more accommodations.

It is always difficult to judge a route, because it could be that we have traveled the route after a prolonged drought, and have issued an opinion by the later with other weather conditions is no longer correct.

The country:

Albania is a treasure chest of Europe for offroad enthusiasts, nice weather, high mountains and gorgeous long offroad trails. 2400 meters high is the highest of our gravel roads and starts at 280 meters, which are 2120 meters difference in altitude. Not only mountains, this country offers beaches with crystal clear waters.
Weather:
The southern latitude in the summer promises a top weather, in the mountains the climate is still very pleasant.
Navigation:
In Albania its not easy to drive whitout Navi, although there are not so many streets as in other countries, but most of the roads are not signposted, and once taken the wrong turn, can quickly be 1-2 hours away.
Road closures:
On our whole trip we met no barrier shield.
Traffic:
Anticipation, about 70% of the car's in Albania are Mercedes, so who drives a Mercedes to Albania should not have any problems with the repair. In the cities is a very high volume of traffic. Extra Urban is hardly any traffic and in the mountains it can happen that 2 hours, met a vehicle, but there are always villages with civilization.
People in Albania:
The people are very friendly, the young speak English and French, the older mostly Albanian, sometimes Italian. The Albanians are very helpful and friendly. In the villages many people in the evening walk on the roads or are sitting in the bars or restaurants.
Sleeping accommodations:
There are a few campsites in Albania (10-15), but there are many hotels located in the coastal regions and in the larger villages. The hotels in the interior of the country usually have 2 - 3 star but there are also some with 4 stars. Nights for a double room costs 20 euros including breakfast, but you can also pay 50 euros for a double room.

Overnithing in Albania

Description
We have blanket coverage collated accommodation throughout Albania and described in the book.

Prices for 2 persons in a double room incl. Breakfast start at about 20 euros, ranging at 4 star hotels to 50 euros.

In Albania you can stay very well overnight and eat very good. Who has more time should definitely go in the national park in Tirana in the 4 star hotel The night here cost 45 euros (2 people), you can eat great and swim in the 3 swimming pools above 500 meters of Tirana. Rooms have partly jacuzzi and you can see in the evening over the whole of Tirana
