Rugged cliffs, dry valleys, sharp-edged canyons, and hot plains—these are the defining characteristics of the 280-square-kilometer Tabernas Desert, nicknamed the "Badlands." This surreal and wild desert landscape captivates with its numerous hills, canyons, and steep, bizarre rock formations. The Tabernas Desert is an area with infrequent rainfall, which can be torrential during the winter months. The route winds through a dry riverbed on a partially gravelly, sandy surface. The tracks (in winter) are sometimes flooded (10 cm deep and above) and lead through the Tabernas Desert Nature Reserve. The route can be complemented by a visit to two film studios (the European Hollywood) that became famous through the filming of several Western films such as "Once Upon a Time in the West", "Lawrence of Arabia", "The Shoe of Manitou" and many others.
